PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that is displayed with proper brightness so as not to damage easiness of seeing. SOLUTION: The display device 100 of a an electronic camera 2 can select display of three modes of [A] a normal display mode, [B] a first high image quality display mode, and [C] a second high image quality display mode. The electronic camera 2 performs display of the display device 100 by [A] the normal display mode when being set at a photographing mode and a setting menu mode. The electronic camera 2 performs display of the display device 100 by [B] the first high image quality mode when being set at a reproduction mode. When it is determined that an image to be reproduced and displayed is photographed under backlight in the reproduction mode, display of the display device 100 is performed by [C] the second high image quality display mode.
