PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wetting water composition for printing by which problems in fire fighting and in safety and hygiene are solved by reducing or removing isopropyl alcohol from it, the adjustment of wetting water supply amount in printing work is made easy, the lowering of emulsification ratio and emulsified ink fluidity with time is improved, and the occurrence of fouling of printed matter, density change of printed matter, a roller strip and the like can be eliminated. SOLUTION: The wetting water composition for printing is characterised by containing 0.0003-0.1 mass% of a poly(oxyethylene)cetyl ether expressed by following chemical formula (1): C<SB>16</SB>H<SB>33</SB>-O-(C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O)<SB>a</SB>H, provided that, a is an integer of 5-60, in 100 mass% of the wetting water composition for printing.
