A spoke ( 10 ) for a bicycle wheel comprising an elongated body ( 20 ) extending along a longitudinal axis (X-X) The elongated body has a first end portion ( 30 ) for attachment to a hub ( 100 ) of a bicycle wheel ( 400 ), a second end portion ( 40 ) for attachment to a rim ( 402 ) of the bicycle wheel and a portion ( 60 ) flattened in a transversal direction (Z) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (X-X). At least one of the spoke end portions has a surface of revolution which includes at least one discontinuity and mates with a corresponding hub or rim discontinuity. The mated discontinuities prevent rotation of the mounted spoke about its axis, X-X, and the correct position is maintained during travel even following knocks or vibrations.
