A wireless communication terminal having a power-saving mode request function in accordance with the residue of a battery, a method thereof, a power-saving mode controlling system in accordance with the terminal, and a method thereof are provided to demand a power-saving mode period in accordance with the residue of the battery, thereby preventing the battery from being wasted owing to unnecessary mode conversion. A confirmer(210) confirms the current residue of a battery of a wireless communication terminal. A message generator(220) generates a power-saving degree notification message by referring to the confirmed residue of the battery according to a request of a power-saving mode controlling system and a power-saving mode request message in accordance with the existence of transceiving data. A transceiver(240) transmits the power-saving mode request message and the power-saving degree notification message to the power-saving mode controlling system, and receives a power-saving mode approval message and a mode conversion message from the system. A mode converter(230) converts a mode of the terminal by the received power-saving mode approval message or mode conversion message.
