SYSTEM FOR REALIZING MULTIMEDIA RING BACK TONE SERVICE AND METHOD THEREOF

The present invention discloses a system for realizing multimedia ring back tone service, which comprises a communication network, a multimedia ring back tone (MRBT) platform storing the multimedia ring back tones of the terminals in the communication network, and a video intercommunication gateway (VIG). Wherein, the MRBT platform is connected with a service switching center dominating the terminals and a multimedia gateway MGW in the communication network respectively by the VIG. When a terminal originates a call through the service switching center, the VIG is applied to establish the communication link from the terminal via the MGW and the VIG to the MRBT platform before the call connection. The MRBT platform sends a multimedia ring back tone to the terminal through the established communication link. The system and the method thereof provided in the present invention can realize the multimedia ring back tone service in a 3G communication network.
