DISC DEVICE AND DISC LOADING METHOD

A slot loading type disc device is loaded with a disc in an optimum status. A disc device into which a disc is directly inserted from a front plane of a chassis housing (23) is provided with a disc insertion detecting means (24) which detects that the disc is inserted into the disc device; a disc loading means (26) which rotatably loads a spindle motor (31) with the disc by moving the disc into the disc device after disc insertion is detected; and a loading completion detecting means (27) which detects a status wherein the disc loading means (26) completed the disc loading operation.
