Provided is a green rust having a honeycomb structure, which is cost-efficient and eco-friendly, is controllable in terms of pore size, and is useful as an electrode material in the field of energy storage or conversion technology. The green rust has a pore size of 50-1300 nm, has a honeycomb structure and is represented by the formula of 3FeII(OH)2FeIII(OH)2Cl.nH2O or 4FeII(OH)2FeIII(OH)2SO4.nH2O. The green rust is obtained by forming an aqueous solution containing an iron salt and a complex ion agent and carrying out reaction under the conditions of a pH of 7.6-8.5 and an electrode potential of -650 to -400 mV(vs. SCE). The iron salt includes a sulfate or chloride, and the complex ion agent includes (NH4)2SO4.NH4Cl or ethylene diamine.
