A transfer-resistant, single phase aqueous cosmetic composition is provided. The composition contains a water-soluble, film-forming acrylic acid- or methacrylic acid-containing acrylates copolymer and a water-soluble ester. T he composition is water- and oil-resistant upon drying on the skin, and exhibit s high gloss and long-wearing and transfer-resistant properties. Compositions containing pigment also demonstrate high color intensity. The compositions a re useful as eyeliner, mascara, lipgloss, lipliner, and other cosmetic products .
