A method of short message calling authentication includes: after the MNP_SRF module has received the MO short message, if it detects that the calling number carried in the short message is a number belonging to its own network, then adds the current network number identifier to the calling number, after that, SMSC determines whether the short message has passed the calling authentication depending on whether the calling number is carrying the CURRENT network number identifier. A system of short message calling authentication includes: MSC, calling MNP_SRF module, NPDB and SMSC. In the case that the signaling networks can communicate with each other, the present invention avoids that the mobile number subscribed to a new network still use the resources of SMSC of the old one. And whether the signaling networks can communicate with each other or not, when the mobile number, which departs from the old network and subscribes to a new network, performs the process of MO short message, it can realize the short message calling authentication by the SMSC of the new subscription network.
