According to the detection result of the dynamic image speed detection unit (15), a light source control unit (16) controls on-duty of the linear light emitting area (ratio of the light emission of the linear light emission area during one frame period) for each of the linear light emission areas. The light source control unit (16) increases the on-duty if the dynamic image speed is slow and decreases the on-duty if the dynamic image speed is fast. Accordingly, even if a still image and a dynamic image are mixed when displayed, it is possible to suppress generation of flicker and motion blur.
