MOLD FOR FORMING DISC, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURE SAME AND MOLD PARTS

Provided is a mold for forming a disc wherein the wear resistance of a mold part is improved, thereby enabling to improve accuracy of a disc substrate. The mold for molding a disc has a first mold having a first supporting plate and a first mirror disc attached to the first supporting plate, and a second mold having a second supporting plate and a second mirror disc attached to the second supporting plate. A sliding face of a mold part provided in one of the first and second molds is subjected to a low-temperature nitriding treatment. In this case, the low-temperature nitriding treatment is applied to the mold part, and accordingly, the wear resistance of the mold part can be improved. Since the processing temperature of the above treatment is low, the treated mold part is free from deformation and can be much reduced in variations of the dimensions, even when a mold part having a complicated shape is subjected to the low-temperature nitriding treatment.
