The lever (10) can be swiveled around a horizontal axle (20) in order to pull at or to release the operating cable (40). It is positioned on top of a base (30,32), fitted with two hook-shaped elements (100) located at its lower surface. For connecting the lever and base unit (10,30) to the bottom (50) of the vehicle the hooks (100) are vertically (2) inserted into complementary openings in the floor panel. The brake lever (10) can now be pulled in order to tighten the cable (40). In a last step the lever and base unit (10,30) is moved horizontally (4), securing the hooks to the floor.
