A wireless home network system using ZigBee modules and an operating method thereof are provided to be configured by using the ZigBee modules having at least more than two wireless communication physical layers, thereby realizing a stable wireless home network by changing the physical layers if the home network is not normally operated owing to signal interference. Plural devices(110/1-110/4) and a residential gateway(100) are equipped with ZigBee modules(112,102) having at least more than two wireless communication physical layers. The ZigBee module(102) within the residential gateway(100) comprises the followings. A transmission unit transmits a message for testing a network state to the ZigBee modules(112) of the devices(110/1-110/4) at preset time intervals. A perceiving unit perceives the network state, depending on whether response messages corresponding to the testing message are received from the ZigBee modules(112). If the network state is abnormal, a converting unit converts the currently used wireless communication physical layers into other wireless communication physical layers. A configuring unit configures a network between the devices(110/1-110/4) and the residential gateway(100) by the converted physical layers.
