Vials reduced in alkali release; and processes for producing the vials which include removing a region deteriorated by processing in a vial inner surface. One of the processes is a process for vial production by shaping a vial from a borosilicate glass tube, the process comprising a first step in which a vial bottom part is shaped so as to have a cup form and a second step in which a neck part for the cup form is shaped. The other is a process for vial production by shaping a vial from a borosilicate glass tube, the process comprising a first step in which a vial bottom part is shaped so as to have a cup form, a second step in which the inner surface of that part of the cup form which extends from the bottom toward the neck part side over a given length is treated by fire blasting to remove the region deteriorated by processing, and a third step in which a neck part for the cup form is shaped. By these processes, vials reduced in alkali release are produced.
