The operating process involves taking readings from the combustion chamber (9), induction manifold (1) and exhaust manifold (4) to control the exhaust valve (15) and induction valve (14). The operating state is reported as cold or warm. The lambda regulator is activated and actual cold and warm adaptation values are produced for further processing to influence the operation of the engine.
