<p>The present invention relates to a waste management system and apparatus for use in a waste management system. Known waste management systems do not take account of the resistance of householders to sort waste material into different categories, the space typically available to a householder or the difficulties in moving the separated waste from the primary collection point within a household to a secondary collection point outside the household for collection. It is an advantage of the present invention that all these points are addressed. A waste collection unit (2) is disclosed comprising a framework, a plurality of modular collection containers (20,22,24), a demountable carriage means (40) and lid means (38), in which each of the modular collection containers (20,22,24) is freely slidable with respect to and demountable from the framework, the demountable carriage means (40) and lid means (38) also being stored within the framework.</p> |
