The intake pipe (58) in the induction tract of an internal combustion engine has cavities (86) to accommodate at least one injection valve sub-assembly (64) which is mounted in the intake pipe by means of a valve adapter (60). The valve adapter is constructed in sleeve form and has a stop face (61) either on an end pointing to the cylinder head (48) or a stop face on an end pointing to the fuel distribution pipe (24).
