The fuel injection valve has a fuel inlet passage (11) which is constructed as a pressure capsule and is mechanically connected to the valve needle (4). The inlet passage is elastically expandable in the axial direction in such a way that a predetermined lift is carried out by the valve needle, and the inlet passage acts upon the valve needle as a return spring. The inlet passage which acts as a return spring is tension-loaded. The valve spindle has a feed passage (12) extending in the direction of the valve seat (3), the inlet (15) of the feed passage communicating with the fuel inlet passage.
