The method involves a groove measurer (20) having a basic impact arm (21) with a reciprocating longitudinal stroke. From a longitudinal stroke an increasing lateral movement is made of the groove measurer. The impact arm has a longitudinal stroke and a lagging around a transverse axis (35).
