Provided are 2,4-pentadienoic acid derivatives that have a selective activity for retinoid X(RXR) receptors and are useful for treating acute or chronic toxicity caused by retinoid. The 2,4-pentadienoic acid derivative having an RXR selective retinoid agonist type activity has a structure represented by the following formula 1, formula 2, or formula 3. In the formulae, X is O, S, or (CR1R1)n(wherein, n is 0, 1, or 2), Y is a divalent radical of formula 4 or formula 5(wherein, o is an integer of 1 to 4), or Y is a divalent aryl radical or 5-membered or 6-membered heteroaryl radical having 1-3 hetero atoms selected from N, S, and O, wherein the aryl or heteroaryl group is unsubstituted or substituted with 1-3 C_(1-6) alkyl or 1-3 C_(1-6) fluoroalkyl group. |
