摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing ethyl alcohol by the hydration reaction of ethylene, by which the ethyl alcohol can be produced in a high ethylene conversion and in a high ethyl alcohol yield in the presence of a phosphate catalyst supported on a silica carrier which is hardly physically and chemically deteriorated. SOLUTION: This method for producing the ethyl alcohol, comprising hydrating ethylene in the presence of the phosphate catalyst supported on the silica carrier, characterized by using porous silica aggregate obtained by removing calcium from calcium silicate produced by a hydrothermal reaction as the silica carrier.
