A system and method for detecting a thermal anomaly such as a fever in humans and/or livestock. The system 200 includes an image capturing component 250 that captures a visual image (340, Fig.3) of incident light in a screening area, the image capturing component 250 further operable to determine a first coordinate in the captured image (340, Fig.3), such as the location of a person's eyes (330, Fig.3). The system 200 further includes a radiation capturing component 260 operable to capture a thermal image (440, Fig.4) of incident radiation in the screening area, the radiation capturing component 260 further operable to determine an analysis area (530, Fig.5) in the captured thermal image (440, Fig.4) based upon the first coordinate in the captured light image. Finally, the system 200 includes a processing component 231 for determining thermal characteristics about the analysis area (530, Fig.5). As a result, if the thermal characteristics correspond to an alarm event, then an alarm 245 may be triggered and the person 201 or animal may be isolated for further health screening. |
