Production of a knitted article on a flat bed knitting machine with >=2 knitting systems on a sled and with >=1 yarn feed involves moving the yarn feed (which has previously introduced the needle yarn) to an inoperative position in a knitted row before the needle zone in which another knitting system has operated while moving the sled again in the original direction and bringing the yarn feed to the original knitting direction or to the opposite knitting direction again in the operating position and further moving the sled without change in the knitting direction and without stopping.
