A method for providing a hierarchy structure for converting/displaying a background image according to storage information of data, a background image converting method thereof, and a mobile terminal for the same are provided to enable the background image to organically change according to each information within the mobile terminal, thereby adding entertainments to a user interface. A method for providing a hierarchy structure for displaying a background image according to storage information of data in a mobile terminal comprises the following steps of: configuring application data so as to be respectively corresponded to one area according to each application within the mobile terminal by providing a background layer, and displaying data storage information corresponding to each application as a background in the configured area; and making the application data to correspond to each area so as to display and provide values, corresponding to the data storage information of the configured area corresponded to each application, in a visual item type by providing a visual item layer.
