A novel compound isolated from bark of ginko is provided to have antiplatelet activity, thereby being used as an antiplatelet agent without causing any side effects. The antiplatelet composition comprises a novel compound of 5-(3-hydroxyprophy)-6-methoxy-2-(3'-methoxy-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-3-benzo[b]furancarbaldehyde represented by the formula(1). The composition is in the form of oral or parenteral pharmaceutical composition. The composition has formulation of power, granule, tablet, capsule, and injection by mixing pharmaceutical acceptable carrier, excipient, and diluent.
