Class 20(3) An anti-rattle wedge means for a vehicle door, not shown, which is provided with a conventional lock 6 having a face plate 7, a bolt 9, and a U-shaped release device 10, all of which co-operate with the usual retainers and openings on a striking plate 14 which is mounted by means of bolts such as indicated at 16, to door post 15, comprises an inwardly tapering wedge 11 having inswept flanges 12, 13 and which is mounted on the lower portion of the face plate 7 to engage, when the door is closed, corresponding wedge supporting surfaces 17, 17<SP>1</SP> on the striking plate 14. The upper surface 17 is formed as an integral part of the striking plate 14, the lower guide surface 17<SP>1</SP> being formed on a separate plate 18 which has a serrated inner surface engaged by a correspondingly serrated surface 19 on the striking plate 14 and which is secured to the plate 14 by means of two screws 22. Each screw 22 and the corresponding bolt 16 vertically below it passes through one of a pair of recessed vertical slots 20 formed in the plate 14 so that the latter can be adjusted vertically and the door can be positively aligned to the correct height for engagement of the lock members. Washers 24 are placed at the bottom of the recess in each slot, the heads of the screws 22 and the bolts 20 being sunk beneath the outer face of the members 18 when they are tightened. |
