The device has base parts (3, 4) that are oriented towards the top of a passenger compartment of a motor vehicle e.g. minivan, and in the direction of a front volume of the compartment. An upper transversal part (14) blocks a load coming to hit the part (14), in case of a violent impact. The parts (11, 12, 14) tilt and pivot towards a base, in the direction of a floor pan (6), in case of the impact of the load against the part (14), where the parts pivot with respect to a transversal axis passing via a junction situated between the parts (3, 4) and the parts (11, 12).
