A method of viewing multimedia information in an advertising time period in a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) is provided to record multimedia information and view the recorded multimedia information in an unnecessary advertisement time. An input unit judges an inputted signal(205). When the inputted signal is a recording signal, multimedia information is selected from the signal and recorded in a storage medium(207). When the inputted signal is a substitution signal, the start time and end time of an advertisement signal received through a tuner are detected. The multimedia information is read from the storage medium, substituted for the frame from the advertisement start time to the end time and reproduced(209,210).
