A mask assembly for a cathode ray tube is provided to prevent interference by differently forming a height of a skirt portion of a shadow mask in case of forming a reinforcing bead on a frame, thereby sufficiently increasing the rigidity of the frame. A mask assembly includes a shadow mask(10) having a porous portion(11) forming an effective screen, a non-porous portion(13) enclosing the porous portion, and a skirt portion(14) formed by bending the non-porous portion and having a partially different height. The shadow mask is installed on a frame(20) having plural reinforcing beads(24,26,28) integrally formed on a desired portion opposite to the shadow mask.
