The transformation of a liquid metal to a solid and fragmented state consists of : (A) displacing a casting table (3) with respect to a casting ladle (39) containing liquid metal; (B) pouring the liquid metal onto a reception surface (7) of the casting table; (C) cooling the casting table to solidify the metal to obtain a fragmented solid metal; (D) evacuating the fragments (102) of solidified metal. An independent claim is also included for an installation for the transformation of a liquid metal into a fragmented solid metal.
