An energy recovery apparatus of a plasma display panel and an energy recovery thereof are provided to maximize energy recovery efficiency by using selectively a double discharge mode energy recovery circuit and a boost mode energy recovery circuit according to the amount of loads of a subfield. An energy recovery apparatus(60) of a plasma display panel uses selectively a double discharge mode energy recovery circuit(62) and a boost mode energy recovery circuit(64) according to the amount of loads of a subfield. The energy recovery apparatus is operated as the double discharge mode energy recovery circuit when the amount of loads of the subfield is greater than a reference value. The energy recovery apparatus is operated as the boost mode energy recovery circuit when the amount of loads of the subfield is less than a reference value.
