PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of utilizing many kinds of recording materials in an image forming apparatus for performing the controlling of image density by using a recording material and a color sensor.

SOLUTION: This color image forming apparatus comprises: an input reception means for receiving input of color information of a recording material; an image forming means for forming an image on the recording material; a detection means for detecting a light reflection characteristic of an image for detection formed on the recording material by the image forming means according to image data for detection, a parameter deriving means that derives a density correction parameter for correcting variation in the image formation density in the image forming means on the basis of the color information of the recording material input via the input reception means and the detected light reflection characteristic; and an output control means for controlling the forming of an image on the recording material by the image forming means using the derived density correction parameter.
