PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for forming a film on an optical disk substrate which does not deform the optical disk substrate, even if the optical disk substrate is at most 0.6 mm in thickness, and does not reduce throughput, and also provide a method for forming a film on an optical disk substrate.

SOLUTION: The device for forming a film on an optical disk substrate forms a thin film on the surface of a substrate to produce an optical disk. In this case, the optical disk substrate 1 is fixed with a holder part 3, and further a close-contact support face S' is provided in the holder part 3, the close-contact support face S' closely contacting at least a part of the back face of the film-forming area S of the optical disk substrate 1.
