PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrostatic image developing toner which exhibits a higher thermal conductivity than a carbon black-containing toner, allows fixing at a lower temperature and facilitates mixing with a carrier in a developer by using a black metal compound having high safety and good fluidity as a colorant, and in which satisfactory dispersibility of the metal compound is ensured, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electrostatic image developing toner comprises; at least a step of preparing a resin fine particle dispersion by emulsion-polymerizing one or more monomer components including an aromatic vinyl monomer; a step of preparing a aggregated particle dispersion by mixing the resin fine particle dispersion and a colorant dispersion comprising a black metallic material; a step of forming toner particles by fusing the aggregated particles by heating to a glass transition temperature of the resin fine particles or above; and a step of washing the toner particles.
