[Also in Groups X, XIV, XXIII and XXVIII] A connector-device comprises a member 29, Fig. 5, having locking- elements 21 slidable transversely thereof and urged to project out of the member by a spring 22 or a rubber-element. Means such as a pin 28 engage the spring to prevent loss of the parts. The member may be screwed to receive a nut, and may be hollow to form a pipe-connection (see Group XXVIII), in which case the locking- elements slide in a transverse tube. An article is connected to the device by passing the member through a hole in the article, the elements retracting into the member and then extending therefrom to engage the rear face of the article, and subsequently tightening the nut against the article, a washer being interposed where a liquid-tight joint is required. The member may have a pointed end 40, Fig. 12, for piercing the article. Elements may be provided at both ends of a member 30, Fig. 7, which may be used to connect tubes &c. together. In other arrangements the member is an eye-bolt, a handle (see Group XXIII) or a water-spraying nozzle. Furniture tubes 45, Fig. 17, are interconnected by member 29 having two sets of elements 21, there being a rubber grommet 46 between the tubes. |
