PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stone mill type milling method which enables continuous casting of a milling object and a milling apparatus. SOLUTION: A milling object is charged into a charging port 15 on the upper surface of an upper millstone 13 at a constant position by position fixing materials 14, 14a or the like. The milling object is lowered to a milling layer between the lower and upper millstones 13 from the charging port 15. The milling object on the milling surface of the lower millstone is loaded with the weight of the upper millstone 13 to collapse the milling object on the milling surfaces of the upper and lower millstones. The milling object is milled by rotating the lower millstone and is discharged, thereby continuously charging the milling object from the charging port 15 at the constant position. Alternatively, a plurality of recessed grooves are nearly radially provided on the upper surface of the lower millstone to form an irregular milling surface. The groove width of the recessed groove is partially widened, thereby smoothly discharging milled and loosened fibers from the recessed groove and continuously loosening and producing woody material in a useful form for fibers being the milling object.
