PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide liquid fuel for a fuel cell capable of attaining improvement of a long-term operating performance and restraint of fuel permeation to a cathode, and a fuel cartridge for a fuel cell and a fuel cell.

SOLUTION: The liquid fuel for the fuel cell contains a fuel ingredient and cationic impurities (excluding H+). A content of the cationic impurities is ≥1×10-7equivalent/L and ≤6×10-6equivalent/L.
