The device includes a bifocal folded antenna (20) arranged on the vehicle for emitting signal waves in at least two different directions (126a,b) and receiving reflected signal waves from at least two different directions. A signal processing device generates at least one signal as a measures of the speed in at least one of the directions, based on the emitted signal waves and the reflected signal waves. An independent claim is included for a method of contactlessly measuring the speed of a vehicle.
