<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet transfer apparatus for increasing the number of entries registerable in a routing table, without having to increase the total memory capacity required for the routing table, wherein packet transfer information is recorded and executing retrieval of the routing table at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: Each of line cards of the packet transfer apparatus is provided with two kinds of routing that assume different roles from each other. The first routing table is a local routing table for recording transfer information frequently in use as a series of groups. A second routing table is a distributedly shared routing table that distributedly records part of all the transfer information items into a single line card, in a way such that the part does not in match the information items of the other line cards and all the distributed information items composite with each other are in matching with all the transmission information items stored in the packet transfer apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
