<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly move a stapler in the sheet width direction without being hindered by stoppers, with a simple and space-reducible constitution. <P>SOLUTION: The rear end of a sheet loaded on a processing tray 38 is registered by the stoppers 131a and 131b, and binding processing is performed by the stapler 501. The stoppers 131a and 131b are rockably supported by a rotary shaft 52, and are supported by a stopper receiving surface 102a. Assuming the height of the stoppers 131a and 131b asα, the opening part height of a binding opening part 501a asβand clearance asγ,α<β-γis satisfied.
