PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device of which process control is easy, and which is superior in productivity, has high luminance with high efficiency, and has a possibility of high refinement and a large screen. SOLUTION: The light emitting device comprises first insulators 4 installed at opposed positions, a light emitting substance 2 interposed between the first insulators, a second insulator 5 which becomes a base board of the first insulators and the light emitting substance, a first electrode 6 and a second electrode 7 of which at least a part faces or is arranged at the first insulators, and a translucent substrate 8 which is opposed to the second insulator through the first insulator at a part and through the light emitting substance at the other one part. In the cross-section including the first insulators and second insulator, the light emitting substance, and the translucent substance, when the first insulators are extended so as to contact the translucent substrate, the relationship of the area of the region surrounded by the first insulators, the second insulator, and the translucent substrate and the area occupied by the light emitting substance is established at a prescribed range.
