PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a fluorescent display tube which has a new gas storage layer, and which is excellent in a persistence of luminance and characteristics after being left at high temperature. SOLUTION: This is suitable for the fluorescent display tube having a phosphor based on (Zn, Mg)O, a ZnO:Zn phosphor, an Ln<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>S:Re(Ln=La, Gd, Lu/Re=Eu, Tb) phosphor, a ZnGa<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>phosphor, and a ZnGa<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>:Mn, which are used for a gas storage layer, an anode, and a diffusion electrode containing silica gel and/or graphite, as well as 0.01 wt.% to 30.00 wt.% of at least one compound selected from K<SB>3</SB>PO<SB>4</SB>, P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, or Na<SB>2</SB>SiO<SB>3</SB>.
