The friction bearing arrangement (8) has a friction bearing (10) which is sealed gas tight in relation to the environment by means of a seal arrangement (12) which is a ferrofluid seal. The friction bearing arrangement seals a vacuum chamber (6) in relation to the environment. The friction bearing arrangement is provided for the mechanical support of a rotating component (2). The sealing arrangement may be an integral component part of the friction bearing, or constructed as an independent unit, or fastened on the friction bearing.
