PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the hearth structure of a rotary hearth furnace 1 forming gaps between refractories 13 as usual, filling various kinds of refractories or refractory raw materials in the gaps, finding a structure designing technique holding a thermal expansion absorbing function by methods other than this, preventing contact between a hearth structure material and furnace side walls 3, 4 caused by thermal expansion of the refractories 13, and achieving safety and smooth operation. SOLUTION: In the hearth structure of the rotary hearth furnace in which the refractories of two or more layers are constructed between side blocks 9, 10 built in an inner peripheral end and an outer peripheral end of a hearth refractory construction floor 7 of the rotary hearth furnace 1 and a powdery or block hearth material 16 is constructed on the refractories, and a refractory material having a compressive strength of 0.1-5 MPa at 800-1,500°C is used in the refractories 14 constructing in at least the uppermost layer.
