PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus which reduces the power consumed. SOLUTION: The display apparatus is equipped with: a display element equipped with a first substrate having a plurality of transistor elements laid on the substrate, an electroluminescent element provided in each transistor element, first signal lines laid in a first direction, and second signal lines laid in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction; a first driving means to supply a driving voltage to each first signal line; and a second driving means to supply a driving voltage to each second signal line. A control electrode of each transistor element is electrically connected to one of the first signal lines, a first electrode of each transistor element is electrically connected to one of the second signal lines, and a second electrode of each transistor element is electrically connected to a first electrode of each electroluminescent element provided in each transistor element.
