Aqueous, storage-stable emulsion (A) of one or more silylated polymers (I), has pH 2-11 and solids content 40-95wt.%, and includes at least one anionic and/or nonionic emulsifier able to produce an oil-in-water emulsion. The emulsion is formed by adding the aqueous emulsion components to a mixture of emulsifier(s) and polymer(s) (I). Aqueous, storage-stable emulsion (A) of one or more silylated polymers (I), has pH 2-11 and solids content 40-95wt.%, and includes at least one anionic and/or nonionic emulsifier able to produce an oil-in-water emulsion. The emulsion is formed by adding the aqueous emulsion components to a mixture of emulsifier(s) and polymer(s) (I); and where R 7> = group that imparts self-emulsifying properties, at least part of the emulsifier(s) can be replaced by (I). R 1>(R 2>O)(R 3>O)Si-CH 2-R 4>-R 5>-R 6>-R 7> (I) R 1>1-4C alkyl or alkoxy; R 2> and R 3>1-4C alkyl; R 4> and R 6>divalent, organic linking groups; R 5>hydrophobic divalent polymer residue; R 7>-CH 2Si(R 1>(OR 2>)(OR 3>) or it is a residue that imparts self-emulsifying properties . Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method for preparing (A); (2) (I) as new compounds when R 7> = group that imparts self-emulsifying properties; (3) alpha -silyl-polyoxyalkylene compounds (III); and (4) adhesive, sealant, surface coating and polymeric molding compositions that contain one or more (A), a (I) of item (2) and/or (III).
