A method for manufacturing dielectrically restricted discharge lamps in which the frame (5) allows a gap between the frame parts (5) prior to joining all these parts. The gap is retained as an access to the interior of the discharge vessel during the joining process and after joining, solder glass (11) runs into the gap by heating of the discharge vessel in an oven and closes the gap and the discharge vessel. An independent claim is also included for a dielectrically restricted discharge lamp.
