The invention relates to a rail car derailment control system which, in addition to detecting and warning of derailment, controls the brake of the derailed car or cars and provides additional emergency braking and/or sends a warning to the driver's cab. The invention comprises: a main body (1) with an associated inertia detector or sensor (8) which is designed to detect derailments; a device (9) for signalling the actuation of the derailment-control system and for maintaining said system in operation; a key (10) for deactivating the derailment-control system; a lower test connection (11) which, by means of a threaded eyebolt, can be used to reproduce a trigger in order to test the correct operation of the system during a bench test or when it has already been installed in the vehicle (7); and a device (39) which is disposed at the exhaust outlet through which the automatic brake lines (5) are emptied upon detection of a derailment.
