A spinning reel for fishing is provided to improve the torsional strength of an operating member by excluding an opening and to perform a smooth braking by preventing the foreign materials from coming into a sliding part. The spinning reel(1) for fishing is composed of a rotating body(21) installed at a reel body(2) and interlockingly rotated as a rotor(3) turns reversely; an operating member(22) capable of moving against the reel body; a rotor brake(20) for applying braking power to the rotating body by the operation of the operating member. The operating member has a cover unit(22c) for covering a front region of a leg unit(2c) of the reel body. A hole or a recessed groove is formed on the cover unit.
