The method involves operating the blind (J) via the switching arrangement (S) of a window switch that is used to open and close the vehicle window. The window blind is moved up when the switching arrangement is in the close window actuating position and the window (F) is closed. The blind may only be moved up if the switching arrangement has been in the close window position for a defined period.
